Most crises are not mysterious. They are fast.
A senior person is moving value. A regulator has written. A journalist has a document. A bank is about to freeze the wrong entity. The facts that still exist this afternoon will not exist on Friday — phones wiped, chat logs gone, a “routine” transfer already through.
JSVHQ’s Crisis Response capability is built for that window: hours, not days. Referral chains are how the window closes. This article is the operating pattern. It is not a case study and it does not name clients.
What “hour zero” actually is
Hour zero is the moment a principal knows the problem is real and still treatable. Typical tells:
- Money or data leaving faster than counsel can be introduced
- More than one jurisdiction already in play (a US company, an EU holdco, a GCC account)
- The people who “should” handle it are pointing at each other
- There is a narrative forming — inside the company, with a counterparty, or with a reporter — that will harden if nobody writes the accurate version under privilege
If the only issue is a marriage with no prenup and assets already in motion, that is a different seat: Already married, no prenup. This piece is legal / reputational / financial crisis where the clock is measured in hours.
Three tracks that have to run in parallel
A single advisor who “will loop in a litigator next week” is how evidence dies. The first 48 hours need three tracks at once.
1. Evidence
Preserve before you negotiate. Imaging, legal hold, the obvious devices, the less obvious shared drives, the bank portal audit logs. In more than one country, “hold” does not mean the same thing. Someone has to say what gets frozen today without creating a spoliation story of its own.
2. Injunctions and commercial triage
Not every crisis wants a court on day one. Some do. The decision is whether an injunction, a regulatory notice, or a quiet bank instruction is the move that still exists tomorrow. That choice is commercial as much as legal: freeze the wrong account and you fund the other side’s narrative.
3. Narrative control
Discretion is a negotiating asset. Mystery is a liability. Staff, counterparties, and sometimes the press will tell a story with whatever fragment they have. The job in the first 48 hours is a single operating view — what is known, what is privileged, what may be said — so the principal is not improvising in three time zones.
Why referral chains fail here
The lawyer in London, the accountant in Dubai, the banker in New York, and the US litigator who “comes highly recommended” cannot hold one picture in hour six. Each will protect their lane. The window is in the seams.
Principal-led crisis response means the person on the call is the person coordinating counsel and banks, not a partner who will staff it on Monday. Mutual NDA first. Then triage. Start under NDA.
What this is not
- Not a published case study. We do not name clients.
- Not asset-protection structuring you should have done last year. Timing still matters; see Asset Protection Isn’t a Structure — It’s a Timeline.
- Not AI-ops, automation, or anything that belongs on leverwork.com.
Who this is for
Family offices, funds, and founders who already know the problem will not fit one advisor’s scope. EU / US / GCC is the usual map. If you might need this later, a retainer that guarantees access is the honest product — not a PDF playbook.
Crisis activation is measured in hours. The first 48 decide whether you still have evidence, options, and a story you can stand on.
